New Zealand's 1992 America's Cup challenge in San Diego was led by Michael Fay's syndicate, with Rod Davis at the helm of NZL-20. The Kiwi campaign was knocked out in the challenger finals by the Italian syndicate Il Moro di Venezia, ending another bold shot at bringing the Auld Mug home.

Canterbury produced a range of supporter gear for the challenge, and this long-sleeve heavy cotton rugby jersey is a proper time capsule from that era.
