This is the rarer 'pre-tour' version of the jersey, manufactured before the Lions' won the Test series. Jerseys manufactured after the tour victory featured 'Victory in South Africa' embroidered above the crest.
The 1997 Lions tour to South Africa remains one of the great series in rugby history. Martin Johnson captained a squad that included the likes of Keith Wood, Scott Gibbs, and Jeremy Guscott, whose famous drop goal sealed the series 2-1.
